Christmas 2008

Yes your seeing right! Holly (and family) got a dog for Christmas!!
I know, I know I can hear what some of you are saying right now.
It has actually been better than I had thought and the kids are excellent
dog owners. They were so surprised on Christmas morning. I had her hiding
in the garage. Had Matt take them downstairs and then when I was
ready he brought them back up! It was a lot of fun!! We named her
Gingersnap or Ginger for short. Right now she is sweet and very much
a puppy we are hoping she stays on the sweet side. By the way for those
of you that care she is a chocolate lab/ German short hair mix.
Hope you all had a great Christmas.

Choir

The girls have been apart of Catherine Stambaugh's Lehi children's choir for the past 5 years! It is my favorite part of the season. Their concert was last night at the Alpine Tabernacle in A.F. For Sydney who likes to pretend she is shy it's amazing to watch her participate when she really isn't a performer. And Holly well she likes us to come watch her even if she complains about going to practise on Mondays. But that's only because she wants to play, play, play. Catherine does such a good job with the kids and it's always a great show. It's a great way to get into the holiday spirit. I am going to be sad when the girls wont be doing it anymore.

Holly is 10!

Not only did we have one birthday party on Tuesday but we had two!! It was the best day so I just went for it and then I worked all night but that's another story. Holly had friends over they decorated graham cracker houses, frosted sugar cookies and had German pancakes for dinner! She is happy to finally be in double digits.

Jack's Birthday Party

Jack had a birthday party last Tuesday with some friends! It was a monster truck/car party! He turns 5 tomorrow on the 12th!!

Attack of the Gingerbread house!!

Janine had her primary class over for a Christmas party so Jack got to go. They had made graham cracker houses. As you can see Jack was enjoying eating then attacking the house. Made me laugh.

Girls love Horses!

Holly and Sydney were lucky enough to get to ride horses this past summer. Last Friday was their last lesson for the year. They learned a lot and had even more fun. Sydney says her favorite part was getting to ride through the river. (I'm assuming it was a small creek) Holly said her favorite part was getting to clean and take care of the horses.

Temples and Tombs

Sixth grade fun! Temples and Tombs. It was pretty cute all of them up there singing and dancing about Egyptians, mummies and King Tut. Perfect amount of time about 15 minutes. Thank goodness for neighbors who have already done this and had a costume to borrow!

Sydney's 12!!

Sydney turned 12 yesterday November 9, 2008! We celebrated on Sat be going to the movies and her grandma and myself took her shopping and out to lunch. We had some of my brothers and sister and their families and grandparents come over on Sunday for dinner and cupcakes. She seems excited to be out of primary. Those first 12 years sure went by fast!

Halloween!

Sydney decided to go with the witch Halloween night.
Super Pig and driver ready to go

Jack the race car driver (Jeff Gordon)
The lovely couple
Such great weather this Halloween. No need for a coat, gloves or hat. This was also the first year Sydney decided she didn't want to go trick or treating with us. In fact she made the comment she might be to old to go trick or treating. When did that happen?

Party Time

Just for you none believer's that's my brother Dan in the army outfit. See he really is real. Nate and Benjamin, Sydney and little Chase are in the picture as well.
Holly as Super Pig, Sydney as a Barbie and Jack as an astronaut

My brother (the one that no one knows because he has never lived with me) had a Halloween party on Saturday. The kids had fun playing with their cousins. They had not one but two pinata's. Games for the kids and a ton of food.

3rd Place!!

The girls had their volleyball tournament last night. And by night I mean that we were there at 4:00 and got home at 9:15. I was very unprepared for that length of time. No treats for Jack, no plan for dinner. FYI the food court has a lovely selection. We obviously survived, and the girls had fun. By the last game all the girls on the team were a little tired. They came in third out of 13 teams. Holly was excited about her medal and certificate they gave her and had it displayed for Matt to see when he got home that night. We will see if they will want to play again but it was sure a fun change from those outside sports.

UEA Weekend

Sydney and her cousin did a little target shooting.
They played on a unique swing and had a lot of fun.

Jack thought the little kittens were soooo cute!

Matt and I took the kids down to his brothers house which is by Monticello which is about an hour past Moab. They have a couple of girls who are Sydney and Holly's ages and everyone had a lot of fun.

I'm Playing Tag

*Link to the person who tagged you

*Post the rules on your blog

*Write six random things about yourself

*Tag six-ish people at the end of your post

*Let each person know he/she has been tagged

*Let the tagger know when your entry is up

The person who tagged me is Camille

Six Random Things About Myself:

1. Like Camille I to enjoy checking and re-checking all the locks on the doors before going to bed.

2. Unlike Camille I can leave the house with dishes in the sink.

3. I also need to check my emails and blogs before going to bed. Between doing this and checking the doors it can take me awhile to get to bed.

4. I have one pair of jeans and refuse to buy another pair until I loose weight! I will not buy another "Big" size.

5. I have become obsessed with making cupcakes with buttermilk. You replace the water with buttermilk. Cupcakes will never be the same for me.

6. I'm working at Target at 4:00 in the morning how's that for random.

I tag Lisa, Janine, Christy and Julia

Scarecrow Festival

We went to the scarecrow festival at Thanksgiving Point today. What a nice day it was. The weather was perfect. The kids had so much fun. Grandma came with us and the kids had so much fun being together which really hasn't happened as much as it should. Good day!!

I want to rewind that

I have to share. Today Jack said something that was going to get him in trouble and as I was saying Jack that wasn't nice you need to go to your room. He started laughing and said.." I want to rewind that". I wonder where in the world he learned that Fraze. But of course because I started laughing he knew he was off the hook. I am such a sucker but really how many of us wish we could rewind something.

Last Game

Jack played soccer this fall and his first four games played about 1 minute and didn't want to play anymore. Matt started taking him and of course he played all while I was with the girls at volleyball. His game last week was canceled but today even though it was cold he played and I got to watch!! He is about the cutest thing ever!!

We Found a Pumkin Patch!

For family night we went and found a pumpkin patch. The kids thought it was much more fun then putting them in a basket at Wal Mart. Not that's there is anything wrong with that. This was just a fun thing for this year. Plus there isnt anything like cute fall pictures.

Volleyball

The girls tried out volleyball this year. We shall see if they want to play again. Holly is very funny to watch and Sydney is having more fun now that's she has figured out her serve. And of course they are embarrassed if I cheer to loudly. Holly's first serve she ever got over was kind of a big deal so there was loud cheering she wants to know how come I don't cheer as loudly anymore.

Camping With Dad

Matt had taken the kids camping up above Heber without me. They had so much fun and didn't have mom there to tell them to quit getting dirty which I would have. They fished, caught a snake and some little frogs which they brought home with them. The animals were the highlight of a lot of the neighborhood kids so I knew it was just a matter of time with all of them handling the snake and frogs that they would soon be lost or gone to a better place so I didn't worry to much but they did not come in the house!

Love This Picture!

Matt had taken this picture of the kids one Sunday afternoon. I think it's such a cute picture that I used it as my screen saver and since I'm going to pull out my flowers today I thought I would post it. Yes I'm ready for Fall to be here!
